The UK market continues to heat up for electric vehicles. As the share of plug-in EVs grows ever-larger, the Tesla Model 3 became the untouchable sales leader in the first half of 2020. The popularity of the model is reinforced by the fact that it has also been named the most reliable executive car in the country.
In the UK, the market share for plug-in electric vehicles was 9.75% in August 2020, up from 4.4% in August 2019. Since the beginning of the year, the share of plug-ins is 8.2%, according to CleanTechnica. The 9.75% August result was weighted strongly in favor of full battery electric vehicles (BEVs) over plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEVs), with market shares of 6.4% and 3.3% respectively. This was quite a significant change in weighting, up from the cumulative year-to-date shares of 4.9% BEV versus 3.3% PHEV.

There are currently no sales data by model for August, but in the first half of 2020, the Tesla Model 3 became the best-selling car in the UK with 9,393 units. This is more than the cumulative sales of the next 4 models; the demand for Tesla speaks for itself.

A recent survey by the UK's What Car? researched reliability of cars under five years old, based on the experience of 13,000 owners in the UK.
In the category of the most reliable executive car, Tesla Model 3 won with a rating of 99.4%.
"Tesla's newest model is the most durable executive car, with just 5% of cars suffering a fault, according to owners. All cars could still be driven and were fixed in a day or less at no cost to the owners."
The survey confirmed that British customers are extremely satisfied with their Model 3, which means the popularity of the model in the country will continue to grow.
