Tesla could double its car sales in Germany in 2022 compared to last year. Given the growth in productivity at Giga Berlin and Giga Shanghai, the company has every chance to achieve this.

Germany has become one of Tesla's largest European markets, where the company sells tens of thousands of vehicles a year. The increasing acceptance of the manufacturer is also due to the fact that Tesla has a factory in the country, and cars made in Germany are highly preferred by citizens there. The more developed the company becomes in the country, the deeper its cars will penetrate, captivating German buyers.

On Sunday, the German weekly Automobilwoche, citing Tesla's local manager, said the company wants to double car sales in Germany in 2022 compared to last year. The source said Tesla will look to attract more customers with more stores and better service offerings.

In 2021, the company sold 39,714 Model 3s and Model Ys in Germany, which means that sales in 2022 could rise to around 80,000 units according to the estimated plan. As of the end of August, Tesla has sold 24,732 vehicles, according to EU-EVs data. This means that in the next four months, the manufacturer should sell about 55,000 Model 3s and Model Ys. At the moment it is not known whether the Automobilwoche report reflects reality, however Tesla may well deliver such a number of vehicles to Germany before the end of the year. The third and fourth quarters of the year are traditionally extremely fruitful for the company.

Giga Shanghai has recently been upgraded. Although the company has not officially announced the installed capacity, sources say it is more than 90,000 vehicles per month. This means that only this one factory, which delivered to Europe and Asia, will be able to produce about 350,000 vehicles in the remaining four months of this year.

In addition, Giga Berlin continues to ramp up production. At the end of June, the factory reached a production capacity of 1,000 vehicles per week. It is expected that reaching the milestone of 2,000 vehicles per week is not far off. Even with a production of 2,000 vehicles per week, Giga Berlin will be able to produce 8,000 units before the end of the year, but it is clear that production capacity will increase. According to the plan, by the end of 2022/beginning of 2023, the factory will reach a production capacity of 5,000 vehicles per week.
