Tesla is rolling out a major update to its smartphone app that includes improved controls, new controls, and stunning graphics.
The Tesla App is the company's official app that allows owners to connect their smartphones directly to their vehicles, giving them access to a variety of remote-controlled features. It is free to download and available for both Apple and Android devices. All Tesla owners have an app with which they can remotely control some of the car's functions or make purchases in the store. It also includes useful information such as current location, vehicle charging status, and may even warn if someone breaks into the vehicle.
As with any app, usability, user-friendly interface, and the range of functions it can provide are key criteria for users. Tesla has always strived to make its app as user-friendly and understandable as possible, and is now updating it again. In early August, Tesmanian received screenshots of the new app, which were originally posted by TrevP on Tesla Owners Online. The company has now begun rolling out a major new update to its mobile app.
The new version 4.0 gives users the choice between two different sized widgets for the iPhone home screen. Both widgets contain the same information: vehicle name, battery percentage, location (or charging information), unlock status, vehicle image, and the last time the information was updated. It looks very nice, harmonizes perfectly with the phone screen, and gives owners quick and convenient access to all the necessary information about the car.

Owners can now also send commands to their car immediately after opening the app, instead of waiting for the car to wake up. In addition, improved support for phone keys has been added, which essentially allows owners to unlock multiple Teslas.
Tesla has also updated the visuals with a new 3D rendering of cars. There are new animations when charging the car, as well as in the climate and control sections. The company also made some simplifications. Tesla ditched the charging section and now displays this information when the vehicle is plugged in. Tesla owners can now view their charging history from within the app. The speed limit, valet mode, and sentry mode settings have been moved to a new category titled Security. Here, owners can get tips on using Bluetooth, phone key, and location services.
