Tesla increased employee bonuses for its employees at Giga Shanghai. This followed after the factory reached a new record for Q2 deliveries.

Giga Shanghai is Tesla's export hub and continues to prove its immense value every year. Several workers at the factory, which is the world's largest by production volume, said they received a significant increase in their latest quarterly productivity bonuses, according to Reuters.

Three workers told the publication that they received bonuses of 1.5 times of monthly base salary for the second quarter. According to them, it “was higher than the quarterly bonuses - 1.2 times the monthly salary - that the majority of workers used to receive for average performance, the workers said.” These workers also said that several of their colleagues received bonuses of a similar size.

Employees Reuters spoke to said they were not told why their bonus was increased. However, the move came after Tesla achieved strong sales results for Q2 2023. The company delivered 466,140 vehicles. Of those, 247,000 were delivered from Giga Shanghai, which corresponds to a 53% share in total deliveries. This is also the highest result since the opening of the Shanghai factory.
