Tesla is still awaiting the final environmental permit for the construction of Giga Berlin, although in fact, the car factory has already been built with prior permits only. As soon as Giga Berlin receives final approval, production there will begin immediately, which Tesla expects to happen no later than December.

Tesla's first cars made in Germany should roll off the assembly line as early as next month, CEO Elon Musk said during the Giga Berlin launch event on October 9. This will be the beginning of the comprehensive penetration of the company's vehicles in Europe. By gradually increasing production, the company will reach the planned volume no earlier than one year after the start. "Starting production is nice, but volume production is the hard part," Musk said. "It will take longer to reach volume production than it took to build the factory." The head of the company hopes that the factory will be able to produce about 520,000 vehicles per year or 10,000 on average per week.

Tesla hopes that the final construction permit for Giga Berlin will be received in the coming weeks. At the moment, a three-week discussion of the objections to the construction of the factory continues, which will end on October 14. The authorities said that the Ministry of the Environment will take time to study the results of public discussions, after which they will make a final decision. This is expected to happen around November. Earlier, several government officials said Tesla is more likely to receive final approval.
