SpaceX 'Starlink for RV' internet service now has over 100,000 subscribers

Today, October 12, SpaceX announced the 'Starlink for RV' internet service now has over 100,000 subscribers. The company amassed the customers within a short period; the Starlink for RV service was rolled out on May 23rd. The pay-as-you-go service enables internet connection at any destination with active Starlink satellite coverage.

"Starlink for RVs is ideal for customers travelling to locations where connectivity has been unreliable or completely unavailable," the company said. The service enables users to access reliable high-speed internet through the constellation of around 3,200 satellites in Low Earth Orbit. "Starlink for RVs provides the ability to pause and un-pause service at any time and is billed in one-month increments, allowing users to customize their service to their individual travel needs," said the company. It is useful for customers who enjoy to go camping or who have a vacation home in a rural area.

The Starlink hardware to access the Starlink network costs $599 USD with an internet subscription price of $135 per month, the company's Starlink.com website states. This week, SpaceX founder Elon Musk said he might change the name of the 'Starlink for RV' service. –"We might need a different name, as this is basically just Starlink with roaming capability, so you can take your terminal anywhere," he said via Twitter. SpaceX also provides service to vehicles in motion, like airplanes and cruise ships. The Starlink service is active in 44 countries globally - See SpaceX Starlink Coverage Map
