Taiwan-based Pegatron has selected a site in El Paso, Texas to build a plant that will supply components to Tesla Inc., Reuters reported. This should be the next step in building long-term relationships between the companies and a new stage in Pegatron's development.

Pegatron Corporation is a Taiwanese electronics manufacturing company that mainly develops computing, communications, and consumer electronics for branded vendors. It also develops, designs, and manufactures computer peripherals and components. Pegatron's primary products include notebooks, netbook computers, desktop computers, game consoles, handheld devices, motherboards, video cards, and LCD TVs, as well as broadband communication products such as smartphones, set-top boxes, and cable modems.

Pegatron has selected a site in El Paso, Texas, nine hours from Austin, where electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla is building its giant new plant. Pegatron's plant will be built there, which will, among other things, manufacture and supply components for the production of Tesla vehicles, Reuters cites Taiwanese newspaper the Commercial Times. Pegatron previously said it sees EVs as its main source of growth in the coming years.

However, according to information provided by the company, details of its overseas investment in factories, including timing and location, are still in the planning stages. This implies that location plans are still subject to change.
