In early November, Tesla unveiled its branded Tesla Tequila. On the company's website, the drink was sold out in just a few hours. However, thousands of people around the world have not been able to order even one bottle.

At the start of sales, Tesla Tequila was available for purchase only in some U.S. states: Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, and Wisconsin.

Later, Tesla CEO Elon Musk wrote that Tesla Tequila will be available for order again most likely next month. But, residents of other countries still have not had the opportunity to order, which has spurred constant questions.

Answering another question about this, Musk wrote that, worldwide, Tesla would only be able to sell the lightning bottle itself and shot glasses, at least for the time being. Despite the fact that he did not give an exact time frame, it still gave hope that at least a unique bottle and glasses could be ordered in the future by those in other countries who want them.

The fact is, there are many rules and laws for liquor distribution, even in the U.S. Therefore, when it comes to selling spirits in other countries, it is even more difficult.

For example, in a number of countries, there is a very strict state monopoly on the sale of liquor. In some countries, liquor distribution is generally prohibited. There are also differences in the who, where, how, and when of said sales, which impose a number of hurdles—if not downright roadblocks to the feasibility of worldwide liquor distribution.
