Tesla Model Y may soon receive a boost in range, as a new efficiency package "MY_2021" was found in the firmware. This was noticed shortly after all of the company's vehicles recently received an increase in range.

Hacker @greentheonly/Twitter discovered that 2020.44.15 firmware would give Model Y a new efficiency package. He also suggested that this could increase the model's range.

In mid-October, Tesla updated its official website with some exciting new changes for Model 3 and Y. The vehicles' range had been extended, making owners incredibly happy.

In addition, both vehicles received a number of external updates, and Model 3 also received internal ones. For now, Model Y owners who have recently taken delivery of their vehicles have reported auto-dimming side mirrors, an updated steering wheel, and a 64GB USB Flash Drive in the glove box.

In addition, there may be some internal changes that have gone unnoticed at the moment but which could significantly affect the efficiency of the car in the future. The 2021 Model 3 received a heat pump and a new 82 kWh battery, which directly affects its efficiency increase. As such, we cannot rule out that the 2021 Model Y also received some hardware changes.

In addition to the fact that Tesla can improve the efficiency of its vehicles by making hardware changes, the company has already achieved this many times through software updates. Therefore, there is always a possibility that Tesla will install the Model Y efficiency improvement package with only the help of a software update.
