Tesla Launches FSD Subscription to Make the Feature More Accessible & Convenient

Tesla has launched an FSD Subscription to make the feature more widely available and user-friendly. Now Tesla car drivers can activate FSD at any time for daily use or for temporary use while in a rented vehicle.

Full Self-Driving (FSD) Subscription is a very welcome feature as it has a high value due to its convenience and wider availability. Tesla has now provided customers with the option to subscribe to its Basic Autopilot to FSD capability instead of paying $10,000 and the Enhanced Autopilot to FSD capability. Both features are available for one month, prepaid in advance. The Basic Autopilot to FSD capability costs $199 per month, and the Enhanced Autopilot to FSD capability costs $99 per month. Please note that Enhanced Autopilot (EAP) is only available in select markets.

The most important condition for the availability of the function is that FSD computer 3.0 (HW3) or above is installed in the car. Computer hardware upgrades are not included in the subscription price and the owners will have to do it themselves at their own expense. Installing an FSD computer requires an appointment for installation, and the replacement will cost around $1,500.

The FSD subscription can be easily canceled through the Tesla app or Tesla account. After processing the cancellation, the customer will continue to have FSD functionality for the remainder of the current billing period.

Autopilot is an advanced driver assistance system that assists Tesla cars with steering, accelerating, and braking for other vehicles and pedestrians within its lane. The system helps with the most burdensome parts of driving and works in conjunction with features such as emergency braking, collision warning, and blind-spot monitoring. With FSD capability, customers will have access to a suite of more advanced driver assistance features, designed to provide more active guidance and assisted driving under active driver supervision.

For many people, an FSD subscription is the best option. Of course, if the owner intends to own a Tesla car and use it for more than 4-5 years, then buying FSD for $10,000 is a better option. But, if the owner plans to change the car earlier than in 4-5 years or rent the car out, then the subscription is more cost-effective.

For one year of use, the owner will have to pay only $2,388 and after the car is resold, the owner will not lose anything. Also, if the owner bought the FSD for $10,000 and sold the car, for example, after two years, then he/she would lose more than $5,000. Previously, this was a big problem among owners who asked the manufacturer to transfer their FSD to a new car, although this was not possible.

FSD Subscription is also an ideal option for those who rent a car. If the car is rented for several years, then the owners will be able to pay for the function that they actually use for the period of time for which the contract was concluded. After the contract expires, they simply cancel their subscription to the FSD and stop paying for it.
