Tesla will provide access to Zoom in its cars. According to the announcement of the video conferencing platform, the software will soon be ready for use in Tesla vehicles.
Zoom announced during its annual product showcase event Tuesday that its video conferencing software will soon be available in Tesla vehicles. A spokesperson for the company confirmed the announcement Tuesday evening in an email to Fox Business.
“I can confirm that the Zoom integration for Tesla will be available on all new Tesla models soon,” Zoom Product PR Manager Beth McLaughlin said. “We want to make Zoom easy to access wherever our customers are – whether they're in the office, at home, or in transit.”
She said that the company's customers have expressed a desire to join Zoom Meetings from their cars. This will be extremely convenient to use, as no matter where Tesla owners are, as long as they are in their cars, they can join Zoom meetings. At the moment, it remains unknown how the function will work in the vehicles of the Texas manufacturer and whether access to Zoom will be provided only via Wi-Fi, or will be possible through Premium Connectivity.
After Tesla released a behind-the-scenes look at the V11 software update at the beginning of the year, attentive customers of the company noticed that a Zoom-like icon appeared on the car's display. However, no one was able to either confirm or deny the assumptions, so the matter remained open until the official announcement on Tuesday. Earlier, Tesla CEO Elon Musk talked about Tesla owners being able to join virtual meetings in their cars, apparently hinting at an upcoming collaboration with Zoom.
