Tesla will release FSD Beta V10 in about a week, next Friday. The public beta button will appear probably in four weeks, says Elon Musk, but it is difficult to predict the exact timing.
The popularity of FSD Beta continues to grow and more owners are striving to become beta testers. With each new version, the software continues to improve, which means that the company continues to gradually increase the number of participants in the program. After announcing the opening of the possibility to get FSD Beta, Tesla received many requests and decided to optimize the process by adding a “Download Beta” button directly to the car display.
However, a company must ensure that the system is working well before making FSD Beta available to the public. That is why the technology goes through testing, bug fixes, and improvement. To date, it is difficult to predict the exact timing of when FSD Beta will become available to the wider public, however the CEO of the company, Elon Musk, tried to give a rough estimate.
On the afternoon of August 25, answering a question about the "button" on Twitter, Musk wrote that the estimated time of its appearance is in four weeks. He clarified that the company will not be releasing a new update this Friday, as it will focus on achieving more challenging targets. Thus, the next version will be 10, which means that the appearance of the "button" has become even closer. The head of the company explained that the new version will have completely retrained neural networks (NN), which means the company is going to do a really huge piece of work. Musk also said that after the release of V10, the team will need several more weeks to tune and fix the identified bugs.
We should be there with Beta 10, which goes out a week from Friday (no point release this week).

It will have a completely retrained NN, so will need another few weeks after that for tuning & bug fixes. Best guess is public beta button in ~4 weeks.
While many criticize Tesla for not releasing announced updates and additions to the software according to the stated timelines, they do not understand one obvious thing: creating what the company aspires to is a very difficult task in itself, and no one has ever done anything like it. Tesla's team develops all of these new functions completely from scratch, and it is the lack of any information and prior experience that makes it immensely challenging to set and achieve precise deadlines.
