Tesla will add Dolby Atmos to its vehicles, according to a rumor. The new software is to update the sound systems in more than 1 million vehicles currently on the road and will be in newly produced units.
Tesla cars are equipped with an amazing sound system that makes it possible to enjoy the ultimate in music enjoyment. However, as with everything else, the manufacturer continues to improve its vehicles to give its customers a high degree of satisfaction. According to information received by BGR, one of Tesla's upcoming OTA software updates should significantly upgrade the sound systems in cars that are already on the road and in new ones that will be rolling off the assembly line.
A source told BGR that Tesla has been working with major record labels for months to bring Dolby Atmos to their cars. Once the software update is released, more than 1 million Tesla vehicles currently on the road will support Dolby Atmos. All vehicles that are produced but not yet delivered—as well as those that will be produced in the future—will also be equipped with Dolby Atmos.
According to the description, Dolby Atmos is a surround sound technology developed by Dolby Laboratories. It extends the capabilities of existing surround sound systems by adding height channels, allowing sounds to be interpreted as three-dimensional objects. The technology was originally created for commercial cinemas and then was adapted for home cinema.
