American electric automaker Tesla has filed the anticipated grant application for the construction of its Giga Berlin in Grünheide, Brandenburg.
This was stated by the Executive Director of the Brandenburg State Investment Bank Tillmann Stenger on Monday, February 10, in Potsdam. “The documents are being successfully completed.” An investment plan is required for approval.
The amount of funding at the moment cannot yet be estimated. But he suggests that it will be over 100 million euros, Stenger said. A notification procedure is also needed with the EU Commission in Brussels, which is currently being prepared.
At the moment, Tesla is conducting preparatory work before the planned construction of the factory. The site is actively working on the search and disposal of unexploded bombs from WWII.
Since environmental protection is extremely important for the American automaker, experts carefully examined all the trees on the site before the planned deforestation. This was done so that the felling of trees does not harm the birds living there, animals or insects. As a result of the inspection, two trees with bat colonies and trees with ants were found. Specialists resettlement the inhabitants of these trees.

Tesla plans to build a factory in Grünheide that will produce up to 500,000 cars of models 3 and Y and future models annually starting in July 2021.
We recently reported that an American company has also applied for financing R&D battery cells in Germany. It's about federal subsidies, online publication the Handelsblatt reported in late January, citing government circles.
