Malaysian Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob has invited US investors and businessmen, especially Fortune 500 companies, to invest or increase their investments, especially in the digital, green technology, and electric vehicle sectors in the country. He presented Malaysia as a preferred investment destination and encouraged the investor community to invest in the country. The Prime Minister said that he had personally invited Tesla to invest in car production in Malaysia.
“I’ve suggested to Tesla to invest in Malaysia in producing electric cars,” he told Malaysian journalists after the meeting, Ted Osius, president and chief executive officer of the US-ASEAN Business Council (US-ABC), told Business Today.
Yaakob arrived on Tuesday on a four-day working visit to the US, during which he will meet with President Joe Biden and ASEAN leaders. “They regard Malaysia as an important trading partner of the US,” he said.
Tesla is a very attractive business for the economy of any country. Its factories create thousands of jobs, which improves the situation in the regions. In addition, the operations of the manufacturer generate income in the form of tax revenues.
