Tesla Completed The Gigafactory Berlin's Land Purchase

Tesla announced plans to build its European Gigafactory in November. Since then, a lot of work has been done on a 300-hectare site. Today, the State Ministry of the Environment reported that Tesla paid for the land and now it is officially in its ownership, which is an important milestone.

N-TV reported, that according to Brandenburg Minister of Economics Jörg Steinbach, money was received for a site for the future factory premises of the American electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla in Grünheide near Berlin. “By this we took one small step forward,” said the SPD politician. The automaker paid 43.4 million euros for 300 hectares of property.

The Department of the Environment also announced that Tesla Brandenburg SE, a subsidiary of the US parent company, is already registered in the Land Register.

“The property is definitely doing well,” said Steinbach. He is constantly negotiating with various departments that deal with infrastructure, energy and water. Steinbach is unaware when the American automaker will have all the permissions together, but he pointed to the fall and winter of this year.

Most recently, the company asked to suspend the application for early approval of the construction of the foundation and submit the amended documents. Tesla, therefore, meets the requirements of the authorities and wants to build a plant in accordance with all the nuances that have arisen. Full environmental approval for the construction of the first European plant is still expected, but Tesla has already cleared 90 hectares at his own risk and leveled the land there. Tesla plans to build about 500,000 electric cars a year in Gruenheide near Berlin from next summer.
