Tesla opens a new distribution center in Giengen in Baden-Württemberg. The new location, which has space for battery storage among other things, is located in the center of the EU, making it extremely convenient for supplying various countries in the region.

Tesla is settling in Giengen in Baden-Württemberg, eurotransport.de reported. The company has entered into a long-term lease of the building with the “Giengener Industriepark (GIP) A7,” located in the district of Heidenheim. It will house a 22,000 square meter (236,806 square foot) distribution center with offices and social spaces. It is planned to create hundreds of jobs here. The location is very convenient as it is located almost in the heart of the EU, making it an ideal place to distribute spare parts to different countries.

The Mayor of Giengen Dieter Henle is very happy that Tesla has chosen this location. “Tesla, an e-car manufacturer, has settled into the GIP A7, which has been setting the standard for years,” he said. Tesla received a perfect location in the Giengen Industrial Park because “GIP A7” is located right on Autobahn 7, which is one of the most important north-south connections in Germany.

The new distribution center is said to be suitable for dedicated storage and distribution of components, including batteries, which is not available at all such facilities. Batteries must be stored in conditions that meet certain safety standards. In GIP A7, this can be done without any problem, said the mayor.

In addition, the GIP A7 facility has an environmental focus, in line with Tesla's focus. The building where the manufacturer is located has, among other things, a photovoltaic system and an innovative heating and solar air system. “We can be proud that Tesla's decision to sign a long-term lease at the Giengen plant is a tribute to our innovative strength,” Henle said.
