Tesla Model Y Performance is ready for delivery in March

In recent months, we have seen many Model Ys that were tested on the roads of the USA and Canada, and yesterday, customers who made early reservations for this model received e-mails confirming that they would be delivered soon.

Several Model Y reservation holders today said they received an email from Tesla. In an email, customers are directed to the Tesla website where they are asked to select a delivery date. The earliest date available according to these lucky ones is March 15th.

"The next step for you is to confirm when you’re able to take delivery so we can ensure the best experience possible.

Once you confirm your availability, we’ll send you an update in the coming days to notify you when you can log into your Tesla Account and complete any remaining steps such as financing or trade-in. Your Tesla Advisor will be available to answer any additional questions you may have.

We’re excited to have Model Y join your home and be a part of your transition to sustainable energy.

Welcome to the Tesla family."

So far, it seems that the earliest deliveries are only for the Performance version.

Earlier, Reddit user u/Quaf4 reported that Tesla employees called him to let him know that his Model Y would be delivered soon.

"I just received a phone call from an employee at Tesla Oakville, ON who was calling to guide me through the upcoming delivery process for my Model Y. I asked when to expect delivery and he told me that the Performance variant will start deliveries next month and that I could expect my LR AWD in March / April."

Model Y production was initially expected to start in late Fall 2020 as announced by Elon Musk during the vehicle's unveiling. However, Tesla has moved the date forward to Summer 2020.

Tesla Model Y production will start in the Fremont factory first, followed by Gigafactory 3 in Shanghai China, then Gigafactory 4 in Brandenburg. The Model Y is expected to outsell Tesla’s Models S, 3, and X combined, which may be why the next-gen carmaker will be making it in three different factories strategically placed worldwide.

Tesla Model Y is an all-electric four-door compact SUV that many people look forward to. It is based on the Model 3 platform. Cars have similar transmission, battery and electric motor. Tesla Model Y is the second car after Model 3, built on the platform of the third generation Tesla. It aims to reduce entry prices for electric vehicles, but not to reduce range and performance.

Like any Tesla, the Model Y is designed to be the safest vehicle in its class. A low center of gravity, a stiff body structure and large crumple zones provide unprecedented protection.

All new Tesla cars are available as standard with emergency braking and collision warning, as well as dead-zone control. The Model Y will be able to full self-drive, providing automatic driving on city streets and highways, if permitted by the country's regulatory authorities, as well as the ability to find you anywhere in the parking lot.

Tesla confidently goes to its goal and experience gained over the years helps it in this. The expectation of Model Y from the presentation of the prototype to delivery was the shortest we have ever seen from Tesla and it is worthy of admiration and respect.
