The visit of Tesla CEO Elon Musk to Germany continues, during which many interesting details and plans of the company were revealed. Today, during a visit to Giga Berlin, Musk said that the new production process involves not only the methods of quickly building its German factory, but also the core method of how its cars themselves will be made.

According to Musk, Tesla plans to produce an updated version of the Model Y in Giga Berlin. But it will not be a simple copy of the one produced in the United States; rather, the crossover’s production will utilize a radical redesign of the core technology used to make cars:

“There’s a bunch of innovative stuff that we will be doing here that we will tell you about in the future. It’s not just a copy of Model Y. It’s actually a radical redesign of the core technology of building a car.”

This will be an important step as the company is redesigning a car for the first time.

“It is going to be the first time that there will be a transformation of the core structural design of the vehicle. It's quite a big thing. "

As always, Tesla remains committed to helping accelerate the transition to sustainable energy, and not just building cars. “The three elements needed for a sustainable energy future are sustainable energy generation, energy storage, and sustainable transport, electric cars,” said Musk. At the moment, the company is successfully developing in all three areas. Musk said that we should strive to make all our transportation electric.

In addition, he stressed that in Giga Berlin, Tesla will build battery cells and batteries. This is consistent with a recent survey conducted by the company in Germany.

“I think we will be building some batteries and cells and other things here. That will be good for stationary storage of wind and solar,” Musk stated.

Of course, in order for Tesla to achieve success, many new employees will need to be hired. Musk said the company will start with a factory, but it won't stop there. Tesla plans to do original engineering and design work out of Germany as well.

“We will start off with the factory but we will also do some original engineering and design work. It is going to be, actually to be totally frank, better than the one in the U.S."

And of course, Musk answered one of the most frequently asked questions for Tesla fans: He said that he also has plans to create a “rave cave” on the roof of the new factory, which would be a “real fun place to work.”

"I think a rave cave is culturally necessary."
