Tesla vehicles continue to dominate the Chinese car market, ranking high in various categories and generating the greatest interest. Tesla Model Y was now the top-selling premium SUV in November 2021, selling twice as many vehicles as its closest competitor.
Chinese consumers’ love for Tesla Model Y continues to swell. In October, the car was already the best-selling SUV in China, surpassing even the world's most popular ICE models with 13,303 units. The figures for November are even more impressive. According to CPCA, Tesla Model Y again became the best-selling premium SUV in China in November. The car took first place with 23,117 registered units, nearly double the sales of its closest competitor.
In second place is Li ONE with 13,485 units. In third place is the Mercedes-Benz GLC with 12,269 units. Audi Q5 registered 11,411 units, which brings it fourth place. Closing out the top five is BMW X3 with 10,436 units.
The popularity of Tesla Model Y in the largest automotive market in the world continues to grow, and at the moment, deliveries are limited only by Tesla's ability to produce them. The main efforts of Giga Shanghai are focused on the production of Model Y, but the incredibly huge demand for it in various countries around the world takes the lion's share of produced cars. Tesla's Chinese factory is an export hub, so the manufacturer has to balance all the time trying to meet the demand in all countries evenly. As soon as Giga Berlin starts mass production of Model Y, the workload on Giga Shanghai will gradually decrease and the Chinese market will be even more filled with the electric compact SUV from Tesla.
