Tesla Model Y became the best-selling car in Europe in November, overtaking petrol competitors. The electric SUV is well on its way to becoming the best-selling car in the world in 2023.

After taking a breather in October, Tesla Model Y took over Europe in November. According to sales data from Automotive News, the electric SUV became the best-selling car in Europe last month, beating longtime petrol leaders. The increase in production at Giga Berlin has had a great positive impact, gradually meeting the demand for the sought-after model in Europe.

Tesla sold 19,144 Model Ys, up 260% from the same month last year. It was a big bounce for the electric SUV after the October decline. However, this was the second month in 2022 in which the Model Y became the best-selling car in Europe. In September, the Europeans also made their choice in favor of the Texas manufacturer’s car.

In November's top-selling cars list, the Dacia Sandero came in second with sales of 18,746 vehicles. Toyota Yaris rounded out the top three with sales of 17,309 units, up over 150 percent from the same month last year.

The monthly winners in 2022 are:

  • Dacia Sandero - January,
  • VW Golf - February and October,
  • Tesla Model 3 - March,
  • Peugeot 208 - April, May and June,
  • VW T-Roc - July and August
  • Model Y - September and November.
