Tesla Model S Plaid and Model X Plaid will go on a tour through the company's showrooms in China from November 17. The arrival of new products from Tesla hints at the approaching start of their deliveries to the first customers in the country.
Tesla Model S Plaid and Model X Plaid continue to be on display at the China International Import Expo (CIIE) 2022, which takes place November 5-10 in Shanghai, China. Here, the new products from the manufacturer are a huge hit, according to local media reports. A Tesla representative at the booth, who asked not to be named, said the overwhelming amount of consumer attention even exceeded expectations. While the company just wanted to show off its new products, a lot of visitors were interested in buying the Model S and X on display. “[The company] had just hoped to share [its] latest products and vision about new-energy vehicles, but many visitors were keen on owning the new models,” he said.
However, not only CIIE 2022 attendees, the number of which are limited this year due to COVID-19 restrictions, will be able to see cars up close. Tesla said that after the end of the exhibition, the cars will go on a tour of China. They will be on display at the company's various showrooms across the country starting November 17. However, at the moment, the list of showrooms in which the Tesla Model S Plaid and X Plaid will appear has not been published. It is expected to appear later on Tesla's Weibo account.
Model S Plaid and X Plaid were previously expected to start delivering in China in the spring of 2022. However, Tesla was faced with circumstances unforeseen beyond its control. Due to COVID-19, its factory in Shanghai was shut down for three weeks. The lockdown also caused the supply chain to be disrupted, and component shortages led to a slowdown in production. Only in the third quarter did the manufacturer recover from the difficulties, which means that the plan to launch Model S Plaid and X Plaid in China can also be implemented soon.
