The car of the year in Denmark in 2020 is the Tesla Model 3. The American electric car won a safe victory on November 27, by a wide margin, in the annual Danish car contest.

Model 3 beat the Peugeot 208 in the final race. For the first time in a long time, an American eco-friendly car wins this contest in Denmark. The last electric car to become Car of the Year in Denmark was the Opel Ampera a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle, which won in 2012.

Model 3 is also among the seven cars that made it to the final of the European Car of the Year.

The Tesla Model 3 is a mid-size sedan that costs from DKK 370,000 ($545,00). In Denmark, Tesla Model 3 is completely exempt from registration fees.

The Long Range version costs from DKK 450,000 ($66,285) this year. But more expensive options will cost more starting from the New Year, as more expensive electric cars receive the same registration fee as cars powered by fuel.

Tesla Model 3 entered the Danish market in February 2019, and ten months a year is by far the best-selling electric car. Until October, 1800 vehicles of this brand were registered.

The car of the year in Denmark is selected by the Association of Danish Car Journalists, and this year the competition is 52nd in a row.

We remind you that earlier this month Tesla Model 3 become The Car of the Year 2020 in Norway.
