Tesla continues to dominate Europe. This year, Switzerland joined the list of countries in which Model 3 is gaining popularity, becoming the best-selling electric car in 2020 and creating competition even for cars with internal combustion engines (ICE).
Despite the fact that COVID-19 hit the economic state of European countries hard, Tesla, on the contrary, began to gain more and more popularity there. Model 3 has already become the sales leader in Switzerland several times in 2020, which gave it a good advantage over the competition.
For 10 months of 2020, Tesla was able to sell 3,133 Model 3 and took 14.2% of the market share, report EV-Sales. The American manufacturer's car outperforms its closest competitor by 1,000 units. In second place is Renault Zoe, which has registered 2,130 electric vehicles in Switzerland. Volvo sold 998 XC60 PHEVs, taking third place. It is followed by the Hyundai Kona EV with 722 registrations. Fifth place was shared by two Volvo cars, XC40 PHEV and S / V60 PHEV, which sold 647 units each.

It should be noted that Model 3 occupies a strong position in the general automotive market in Switzerland. In September, it shone the brightest and became the best-selling model even among ICE cars. Tesla is not only the undisputed leader but also the main driver of the electric vehicle market.
