The Tesla Model 3 continues to conquer the Israeli market, becoming the country's best-selling electric vehicle in August and in the first eight months of 2021.
Data, obtained by Calcalist shows 7,097 electric vehicles have entered Israel’s car market from January to August 2021. Of these, 4,113 are Tesla Model 3, which corresponds to almost 58% of the EV market share. The colossally high sales made by the American car manufacturer achieves the best-selling EV number in the country for all eight months of this year.
In addition, Tesla Model 3 also became the best-selling electric vehicle in August, registering 1,306 units. Second place in the electric vehicle registration table is taken by the MG ZS EV with 1,029 units sold. The rest of the car brands and their models lag far behind, and in most cases do not even surpass the mark of 500 cars sold in the period from January to August.
The 2,809 Tesla Model 3 vehicles imported to Israel in 2021 were made in China, 1,408 were produced in the USA. However, for the time being, the Fremont factory has ceased production of vehicles for export as demand in the North American market is very high. However, Giga Shanghai has become Tesla's new export hub, so all Model 3 and Y that are shipped to the EMEA (Europe, the Middle East and Africa) region will now be made in China until Giga Berlin starts mass production.
