Tesla May Soon Introduce Updated Autopark & Smart Summon, Which Are 'actually smart'

Tesla may soon introduce updated Autopark and Smart Summon that would be “actually smart,” according to Elon Musk. The improved features may be ready before the end of September.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk teased the updated Autopark and Smart Summon features. He said that the Autopilot/AI team, in addition to FSD Beta, is working on Optimus, Autopark, and Smart Summon. Musk emphasized that the features already presented will become “actually smart.” The head of the company also said that the work of the team will have to be completed by the end of this month, that is, by AI Day, scheduled for September 30. He did not say if the public or test version would be ready by then, but it is exciting news nonetheless.

Autopark and Smart Summon are extremely important and useful features introduced by Tesla, however, they both need an update to become truly indispensable. They have a number of requirements in order to be able to use them, which is why they are not the most commonly used ones.

Autopark can be very useful for many drivers in a variety of situations. However, in order to use it, the parking space must have three distinct lines (one in front and two on both sides of the parking space) when parking perpendicular. When parallel parking, there must be a clearly defined edge of the parking space (a line or curb, not dirt or grass) and a vehicle must be parked in front of the space itself. Unfortunately, such ideal conditions cannot be found everywhere, so drivers often prefer to park on their own.

Smart Summon is another very interesting and useful feature. It allows owners to summon a car to them so that there is no need to go to it through the entire parking lot. In addition, the feature can be used when you need to carry something heavy, it is raining, or the car ended up in a puddle after rain, making it difficult to approach. However, the feature has not always worked as intended and as desired by owners, so updating it will be essential.
