In September, there was an increase in the number of overall vehicle registrations in Germany, compared to the same month in 2019. Nevertheless, in January-September 2020 as a whole, there is a decrease in the number of registrations compared to the same period in 2019. The was one bright spot, however: Tesla.
Compared to September 2019, the country registered 82.7% more Tesla vehicles, which no other manufacturer, both domestic and imported, has been able to achieve. The steady increase in sales has led Tesla to become the only company in the German car market to see positive growth in 2020 compared to the same period in 2019. Tesla managed to record a 24.5% YoY growth in registration, according to KBA data.

In September, Germany registered 21,188 electric vehicles and 54,036 hybrid vehicles, including 20,127 plug-ins. Gasoline car registrations fell by 17.6%, and diesel car registrations dropped by 6.4%; on average, these CO2-emitters decreased in September by 13.4%.
In August, Tesla Model 3 was the best selling EV in Germany with 2,824 registrations. According to @fly4dat/Twitter, 2,881 units were registered in September, making the model a likely best-selling EV. In total, 5,859 Model 3s were registered in Germany in 3Q 2020.
We often hear about the "next Tesla Killer." Now we know why competitors are so eager to create one.
