Tesla FSD Beta is the company's latest development that will eventually lead to driverless vehicles. To date, about 285,000 participants in the program help the manufacturer improve it by providing data for training the neural network.

To make driverless cars a reality, Tesla aims to make its software more than just better than a human, because this is too low a standard, according to Elon Musk. People are often distracted, tired, or emotionally affected, so the company strives for higher standards, which requires long and hard work. That is why its FSD Beta has been in active and painstaking development since the end of 2020.

In two years, Tesla has made great strides in the development of FSD beta, and its huge success is due to the fact that the number of testers in the program is constantly growing. The data collected while driving is transmitted to Tesla supercomputers, where the neural network (NN) is trained, which ultimately improves the performance of FSD Beta through over-the-air updates.

The number of FSD Beta testers grew unevenly throughout the period and was directly related to the progress of the software. However, in recent months, the rate of expansion of the number of participants has increased significantly. Tesla announced on Thursday that as of December, the number of testers has risen to 285,000 thanks to the fact that access to FSD Beta was made available on request to all cars that have purchased FSD in North America.

In September 2022, Tesla expanded its testing program, bringing the number of testers from 100,000 to 160,000 and now, it has reached 285,000. Thus, over the past three months, their number has increased by 78%, which is an amazing result. In fact, this is a very important step for the company, indicating not only how well FSD Beta is developing, but also that at some point the speed of development increases significantly, thanks to the huge amount of data received from each vehicle taking part in the program.
