Tesla Giga Berlin continues to grow and already employs about 7,000 people. Thanks to this, the manufacturer remains the largest employer in the region, which significantly improves the economic situation there.
New data from Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg research show that Tesla Giga Berlin is the largest private employer in all of Brandenburg. About 7,000 people from over 50 countries currently work at the factory, producing the world's most popular electric vehicles. In the last two months alone, the manufacturer has hired about 2,000 new employees. Thus, the rate of recruitment is quite high, which will directly affect the increase in production. The factory currently operates in two shifts, according to official figures, but a third shift will be added soon, providing hundreds more jobs.
Ultimately, Tesla aims to produce 500,000 vehicles a year in Phase 1 of the factory expansion, which will require around 12,000 employees. The factory started operations in March 2022 and will need some time to ramp up production and expand the number of employees to the desired level. In addition, the battery factory will also provide several thousand jobs.
In June, Giga Berlin reached a production capacity of 1,000 units per week and announced a new production milestone on October 1. The manufacturer said it had reached a production capacity of 2,000 vehicles per week. Tesla is expected to periodically upgrade Giga Berlin in the future to achieve a production capacity of 500,000 units per year and beyond.
