The Tesla Giga Berlin Paint Shop started production of Model Y in Deep Blue Metallic. This means that after just 15 months of factory operation, the company has launched production in all five colors offered to customers.
Tesla's factory in Germany continues to ramp up production and is already on track to reach a production capacity of 10,000 Model Ys per week. Giga Berlin has already passed the milestone of 250,000 vehicles per year and the next target is to reach a production capacity of 500,000 units per year.
Along with the increase in production, Tesla is also expanding the range of color options offered. Giga Berlin is equipped with a state-of-the-art Paint Shop, which applies paint using the latest technology. Initially, the manufacturer began producing cars in Solid Black and Pearl White Multi-Coat. Later, Quicksilver and Midnight Cherry Red were added. However, something was still missing.
Tesla offers cars in five colors, and Giga Berlin has left the Deep Blue Metallic color for last. In May, observers noticed more and more Blue Model Ys appearing outside the factory, indicating production in that color had begun. In June, reports began to come in that Model Y Performance had been delivered to some customers. The car in this variant is not manufactured by Giga Shanghai for the European market, which confirms that it is manufactured at Giga Berlin.
Tesla was able to start the production of cars in all five colors within 15 months of running the factory. Now Giga Berlin can fully focus on ramping up production. The company is expected to be able to produce 500,000 vehicles in Germany by the end of 2023.
