The recent Tesla Full Self Driving (FSD) Beta rollout has been a very hot topic on social media. The demand for FSD has continued to grow within the Tesla community, and now many owners are jumping at the opportunity to purchase this one-of-a-kind, advanced technology software before the price increase on Monday Oct 26th (original day), which was recently announced by CEO Elon Musk on Twitter.
A number of Tesla owners on Twitter requested to have a longer grace period before the FSD price increase. In response, Musk postponed the increase until Thursday, October 29th, a week from today.
Price change is pushed to Thursday next week. Applies only to US for now. One week clock will start in other countries as beta is released. FSD monthly rental will also be available sometime next year.

Meanwhile, Musk also dropped a major piece of news: FSD will become available as a monthly subscription service, sometime in 2021. This is likely incredibly exciting for some owners who don't want to outright buy FSD.
From a financial standpoint, the subscription service could bring both a long term benefit to the company as well as be preferable to some owners. This monthly rental option can lower the barrier to entry for Tesla FSD, allowing an even wider range of potential customers. A greater number of FSD users would also help draw in even more real-world data for the continued development and evolution of FSD. A win-win, all-around.
