Tesla continues to improve its new software for the Full Self-Driving—FSD Beta—and the next update is due on October 8. It will include not only various improvements, but will also increase the number of owners who can receive it to 1,000 per day.

FSD Beta attracted considerable interest from Tesla owners immediately after it was announced. Many owners around the world have sought to get it on their cars. However, given that it is the latest technology, the company has limited FSD Beta to only about 2,000 owners, who have been testing it for months. After Tesla refined it and made sure the software worked well, it began distributing it to a wider audience.

On September 24 at midnight, the manufacturer began widespread distribution of FSD Beta, via the software download request button that appeared in the Tesla application menu. It is worth noting that only U.S. owners got access to it, and the new technology is not yet available in other countries. However, since the U.S. is Tesla's largest market, it has generated a lot of hype among owners. It seems that there were so many requests that even the company was not expecting it. The head of Tesla Elon Musk, in a tweet with new details about FSD Beta, was very surprised, emphasizing this with the words: "Wow, lot of interest in FSD beta!"

Musk wrote that rollout of version 10.2 will happen at midnight Friday. Immediately after that, in the tweet below, he corrected that rollout will be not next Friday, but a week after next Friday, which means October 8. In addition to improvements, the new version allows even more owners to download the software to their vehicles. According to Musk, with V10.2 their number will reach about 1,000 per day.

This step is very important for several reasons. First, the wider adoption of FSD Beta raises awareness of the technology among the masses, which is an important part of mainstream adoption. Second, more vehicles with FSD Beta allow more miles of data to be collected, which in turn is key to faster learning of neural networks (NNs). The sooner NNs are trained, the faster Tesla will achieve full self-driving, which is the manufacturer's goal.
