Tesla Fremont will produce battery packs for Cybertruck's initial production, according to the report. The installation of the production line has already begun.
Tesla Cybertruck is the most anticipated vehicle of 2023 and the company is actively preparing for the launch of production, which is expected to take place the middle of next year. In August 2022, Tesla applied to build a new line of battery manufacturing on the second floor of its Fremont factory. The project has been described as “CTA Battery B-Build” and more details have now emerged regarding this.
The Fremont factory has been selected to start production of Cybertruck packs, Teslarati said, citing its sources. The new battery line should be the place where the company will start this production. According to the information, Tesla will take 4680 battery cells made at the Kato Road plant near the company's main building—or other battery cells made at the Giga Nevada—and make packs for the pickup truck. The sources also said that the line is already being installed, but the exact timing of its completion is unknown.
Cybertruck’s production will be set up at Giga Texas, where the Giga Press with a clamping force of 9,000 tons could already be supplied. Last week, two Cybertruck bodies were spotted near the Giga Texas building and are likely to be used as samples to calibrate production equipment. As soon as it will be possible, production of Cybertruck battery packs will also start in Texas, but for now, they will be manufactured in Fremont.
