Tesla is taking active action to get more people to replace their combustion engine vehicles with electric ones. The manufacturer encourages the Chinese to sell their cars with internal combustion engines and switch to its EVs, offering pleasant bonuses for this, the source says.
Elon Musk was not joking or exaggerating when he said that Tesla is committed to having electric vehicles replace all vehicles with internal combustion engines. To this end, the manufacturer will reportedly launch a promotion in China offering benefits to consumers. Chinese who place orders for cars between July 1 and December 31, 2022, and enter into a car swap agreement before delivery will receive more than a Tesla car. The Shanghai Securities Journal (via CnEVPost), citing an unnamed Tesla China source, said these benefits will include:
- A free 90-day trial of Enhanced Autopilot (EAP) functionality.
- 14-day commute guarantee after replacement.
- Price protection valid for 14 days.
- Free in-home evaluation of the old car.
Although Tesla is already facing huge demand, the manufacturer supports China's policy by offering bonuses to the Chinese for their desire to contribute to the wider adoption of EVs. At the moment, the waiting time for Model 3 in China is from 12 to 20 weeks, and for Model Y it is from 10 to 24 weeks.
The most interesting bonus is that Tesla provides a 90-day free trial of EAP. EAP has been offered in China since February 2021 and currently costs RMB 32,000 (about $4,940).
ENHANCED AUTOPILOT INCLUDES:
- Navigate on Autopilot: Actively guides your car from a highway’s on-ramp to off-ramp, including suggesting lane changes, navigating interchanges, automatically engaging the turn signal and taking the correct exit
- Auto lane change: Assists in moving to an adjacent lane on the highway when Autosteer is engaged
- Autopark: Helps automatically parallel or perpendicular park your car, with a single touch
- Summon: Moves your car in and out of a tight space using the mobile app or key
- Smart Summon: Moves your car to your location (using your phone's GPS as a target destination) or to a location of your choice, maneuvering around and stopping for objects as necessary.
