Tesla Cybertruck Display In Automotive Petersen Museum Extended Due To Popular Demand

The Petersen Automotive Museum’s Tesla Cybertruck Display will be extended until July 5, meaning the post-apocalyptic-inspired EV truck will be around for Independence Day on July 4th. The museum decided to extend the Tesla Cybertruck display due to popular demand. 

“The Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles scored a coup to mark its reopening after a three-month shutdown. It’s hosting the first public display of Tesla’s Cybertruck since the dystopian-styled pickup made its infamous debut last fall,” wrote Automotive News. 

The article also stated, “The Cybertruck exhibit, set up front and center in the lobby, was originally scheduled to last through Friday, June 26, but it has proved so popular that the museum’s website said the exhibit had been extended through Sunday, July 5.”

Tesmanian visited the Cybertruck exhibit at the Petersen Automotive Museum and caught some differences between the one being displayed, and the CYBRTRK Tesla featured during the unveiling. For instance, the Cybertruck at the museum had a glossy finish as opposed to the one during Tesla’s unveiling, which had more of a flat silver finish. 

The Cybertruck exhibit’s extension supports speculation that Tesla’s EV truck has become popular. Since its unveiling, the CYBRTRK appears to have become a pop culture icon. Hot Wheels made a die-cast and hobby-grade model of the Cybertruck, it was featured in a short video clip set in George Lucas’ iconic Star Wars, and was also in a music video.

The Cybertruck’s popularity doesn’t seem to end with its notoriety either. Wedbush Securities estimated that there could be 650,000 orders for the Cybertruck as of this month. It is unlikely that orders will stop as Tesla prepares for Cybertruck production.

Last week, Tesla narrowed down its options for the Cybertruck and Model Y factory. The EV automaker pitched its proposal to Texas and Tulsa. Based on media reports, Texas seems to be a favorite in the eyes of the public, but that may not be the end-all and be-all for Tesla. 

It seems the final decision will be up to the two states. There seems to be some conflict in Texas as to whether or not it should welcome Tesla’s Cybertruck factory in the state. In contrast, Tulsa seems more resolute about Tesla coming to Oklahoma.
