Tesla confirms Cybertruck production will start this year. The first deliveries of the pickup truck should take place in Q3 2023.
The long-awaited Tesla Cybertruck is getting an eagerly desired update. During the Q1 2023 Earnings Call, the company revealed some important details that made the hearts of Cybertruck order holders beat faster.
Elon Musk said that for now, Tesla continues to build alpha versions of Cybertruck on its pilot line. Photos of the pilot line were presented in the company's report. These are the units that are used for various tests. For example, Cybertruck has been tested in winter conditions and a photo of it has also been added to the report. In parallel with this, Tesla is completing the installation of a volume production line at Giga Texas.
One of the most exciting pieces of news was that the company expects to start deliveries of Cybertruck in Q3. Musk said this should happen around the end of the quarter, which would take place at a delivery event. This is the first time more specific information about the start of deliveries has been made public. At the delivery event, Tesla will also reveal the specifications of Cybertruck and its pricing. He again stressed that the pickup truck is an incredible product that only comes along once in a long time. Musk is confident that consumers will not be disappointed. This is indeed a very radical product that is made in a completely different way than all other cars.
In addition, Tesla's CEO also talked about how Cybertruck will ramp up production so that investors do not expect unrealistic scenarios. Like all new products, it will follow an S-curve, so production starts slowly and then accelerates, Musk explained. He said that, as with all new products, it takes time to get the production line up and running.
