Tesla is creating a team focused on Energy Trading and Market Operations. The company has announced the recruitment of a Senior Energy Trading Analyst.
In 2020, Tesla developed software for independent power producers, utilities, and capital partners to help manage and monetize clean energy stored in battery storage systems. Autobidder is the company's latest product in the energy department. Now Tesla is seeking to develop further in this direction and has begun to recruit professionals.
Julian Lamy, Leading Energy Trading and Market Operations at Tesla, announced via Linkedin that the company is creating a new team focused on energy trading and market operations. He described that the team will manage the performance of Tesla's global battery fleet and all of its renewable projects. In addition, they will build expertise in the wholesale energy markets and support the development of Autobidder, Tesla's automated energy trading platform.
The company is looking for specialists for the position of Senior Energy Trading Analyst. The job description states:
"We are looking for a Senior Energy Trading Analyst to drive continual performance improvements of the largest fleet of battery storage projects in the world. This includes Tesla's utility-scale battery fleet (ie, transmission level) and virtual power plants (ie, aggregation of residential batteries at the distribution level). Using Tesla's in-house automated trading platform, Autobidder, you will be responsible for bidding batteries into multiple wholesale energy markets, ensuring the assets meet contractual obligations, and complying with market rules. executing trading strategies, monitoring automated trading systems, balancing risk and expected returns from different trading strategies, making real-time trade decisions during key market opportunities, analyzing asset performance and market conditions, developing tools to support analytics, developing and prototyping new algorithm ideas and strategies as part of the team's R&D process, communicating complex situations to broad audiences, and presenting to internal and external stakeholders."
