2020 US Presidential candidate Joe Biden released his strategy to build modern, sustainable infrastructure and introduce new jobs in the United States. Biden’s plan could help Tesla’s mission move forward even more in the United States.

Biden’s team outlined the key elements of the plan, as follows:

  1. Build a Modern Infrastructure
  2. Position the US Auto Industry to Win the 21st Century with technology invented in America
  3. Achieve a Carbon Pollution-Free Power Sector by 2035
  4. Make Dramatic Investments in Energy Efficiency in Buildings, including Completing 4 Million Retrofits and Building 1.5 Million New Affordable Homes
  5. Pursue a Historic Investment in Clean Energy Innovation
  6. Advance Sustainable Agriculture and Conservation
  7. Secure Environmental Justice and Equitable Economy Opportunity

Tesla’s automotive and energy departments could significantly contribute to Biden’s plan in at least five of the seven key elements described above. Biden hopes that his plan will generate new jobs for Americans while helping the United States transition into a sustainable economy, which would fit Tesla’s ultimate goal.

Redditor u/cryptoengineer was kind enough to share the points in Biden’s plan that could be related to Tesla and even SpaceX. The Redditor’s points are listed below.

Infrastructure

According to Biden’s plan, he will rebuild America’s infrastructure, including roads, bridges, green spaces, water systems, electricity grids, and universal broadband. Tesla entered the utility sector in the United Kingdom and Australia and hopes to get another electricity generator license in China. In the United States, Tesla has teamed up with PG&E to build one of the world’s largest battery storage installations in the world.

Auto Industry

As an EV automaker, Tesla has already been working towards some of the goals listed above. In September, Tesla is expected to unveil a revolutionary million-mile battery for its vehicles. The company may also already be working on producing batteries at its Fremont Gigafactory. So Biden’s plan to “accelerate battery R&D and US production” may be directed more towards legacy OEMs.

Electricity

Tesla Energy would be beneficial in this part of Biden’s plan. Most TSLA analysts don’t recognize the true potential of the company’s energy department. Biden’s plan highlights the contributions Tesla’s Autobidder platform, Solarglass roof V3, solar panels, etc. can make to the company and the United States.

Buildings

Redditor u/cryptoengineer noted that Elon Musk talked about Tesla producing a home HVAC system repeatedly in the past, which could be relevant under this section of Biden’s plan.

Investment in Innovation

Biden plans “to increase federal procurement by US$400 billion” and put it towards research and innovation in clean energy, clean transportation, clean industrial processes, and clean materials. The US Presidential candidate believes the investment could help the United States become the world’s clean energy leader.
