SpaceX founder Elon Musk has established the ‘Gateway to Mars’ at Brownsville’s Boca Chica Beach located in Cameron County, Texas, along the border with Mexico. The small city is situated approximately 30 minutes away from SpaceX’s South Texas Launch Site, from where Musk envisions a fleet of Starships lifting off towards the Red Planet. Today, March 30, Musk announced he will donate $30 Million (M) to help improve the area –“Am donating $20M to Cameron County schools & $10M to City of Brownsville for downtown revitalization. Details to follow next week,” he wrote via Twitter.

The generous donation announcement came after SpaceX conducted a high-altitude flight test of the Starship SN11 vehicle at Boca Chica Beach, which he refers to as ‘Starbase.’ “Please consider moving to Starbase or greater Brownsville/South Padre area in Texas & encourage friends to do so!” Musk said, “SpaceX’s hiring needs for engineers, technicians, builders & essential support personnel of all kinds are growing rapidly.” The facility has created hundreds of jobs already and will create hundreds more – “Starbase will grow by several thousand people over the next year or two,” he added.

To achieve making life multiplanetary, it will require thousands of people with different skills working together. At SpaceX every job position is important no matter if you are a top engineer or have a supporting role, every single employee at SpaceX plays a vital role in accomplishing the goal of launching astronauts back to the lunar surface and enabling humanity to colonize the Red Planet. You can find the company’s job listings at: spacex.com/careers.  Long-term, SpaceX is expected to boost the local economy with its operations by creating jobs, attracting businesses, tourism, and a wide-range opportunities into the area. The most important thing is that SpaceX will inspire an entire generation of children from Cameron County to look at the stars and aspire to create a better future for humanity.
