During today's Battery Day, Tesla unveiled the new Model S Plaid, which the company's CEO Elon Musk has been talking about for a long time. In 2019, the three-engine prototype Plaid was lapping Laguna Seca in 1:36.555, but Musk said that after some changes, during a recent test, the time was reduced to 1:30.3. He also said that this time could be even further reduced by another 3 seconds and break the record for the fastest mass-production car of any type.

Of course, the new version is very different from the regular Model S, even if we consider the Performance with its high-speed "Ludicrous" mode. The specifications of Plaid are very attractive, especially considering that we are talking about an electric car.

Specifications:

520+ miles range
1100 horsepower
acceleration from 0-60 mph in less than 2 seconds
top speed 200 mph

Pre-orders are already available on Tesla's website starting at $139,000 before applying any potential savings.
