As some details unfolded, SpaceX representatives shared they delivered Starlink user terminals to provide essential connectivity to the beleaguered island. Starlink, a groundbreaking project involving a constellation of satellites, facilitates internet access even in the most remote locations. More than 650 kits have been distributed to over 40 organizations on the island to support recovery efforts, with Red Lightning Disaster Relief among those beneficiaries.
Red Lightning Disaster Relief, in a LinkedIn post, disclosed that they procured 20 Starlink systems to bolster communication in the wake of the disaster. SpaceX expedited the delivery process, displaying the company's commitment to assisting in times of crisis. These Starlink systems are being set up to offer free Wi-Fi to the affected population, a vital lifeline as traditional communication infrastructure has crumbled in the fires' wake.
