There are important advancements at the Giga Berlin construction site today. After some wait, Tesla began to drive the first piles for the Press Shop, and the Unit Drive building gained more walls.
On August 14, we learned that Tesla would be reducing the number of piles required for the construction of its European factory. During the construction of Giga Berlin, the company changed plans and construction methods several times in order to fully meet the requirements of environmentalists. The new plan provides for the use of only 500-550 piles, instead of the 15,000 previously planned. The only building to be built with piles is the Press Shop.

On August 17, Tesla received a fifth early construction permit from the State Environmental Administration. Among other things, the permit allows driven piles to be installed as part of the foundation. Tesla's swift construction cadence does not allow for delays; as such, the very next day, on August 18, we see pile drivers had already arrived on the premises.
@gigafactory_4 / Twitter reports that piling has begun today, marking an important milestone in future construction. The piles were a stumbling block during the construction process, as environmentalists and locals feared their negative impact as they reach groundwater.

Drive Unit building continues to go up quickly. Tesla plans to complete this building in just 19 days. While this is a very ambitious plan, judging by the latest photos, the crew will likely have success.
Last week, the building gained the north and south walls, and today the construction of the east wall was noticed. The roof covering is also continuing at an accelerated pace and at the moment about 1/4 of the surface is covered.

There was also high activity in the parking lot. Today, asphalt pavers are working there, and tomorrow the parking lot will be ready for parking. In addition to the parking lot, asphalt was laid on Tesla Straße, a street that runs from the highway to Giga Berlin.
