The first Tesla Model Y Long Range manufactured by Giga Berlin has already been delivered to a private customer in Germany. Thus, the factory started production of two versions of Model Y to meet the growing demand in the European market.
Early last week, two Tesla customers in Germany reported on the Tesla Drivers and Friends forum (TFF) that they received a VIN to accept delivery of their Giga Berlin-built Model Y Long Range vehicles. Forum members have reported that after their expected delivery date has been pushed back several times, they have now received a VIN and are preparing for delivery. The vehicles of both participants were supposed to be delivered between July 11 and 17, although they have different delivery cities.
Now, one of the customers reported that he took delivery on July 15 and was very happy to be the first private customer in Germany to take delivery of the Giga Berlin-made Model Y Long Range. The vehicle was delivered to a delivery center in Renningen, Baden-Württemberg. The customer said the car has the same seats as the Performance version made in Germany and a better chassis than the made-in-China Model Y LR. In general, he was pleased with the build quality, although he noted slight damage to the paint and a gap on one of the doors, but, according to him, this did not bother him at all. In addition, he was extremely pleased with the soundproofing of the car and the quality of its performance while driving.
Obviously, Tesla started production of the Model Y LR at Giga Berlin before it closed for upgrades on July 11. According to Teslamag, the first 40 or so vehicles made in Germany will be delivered to local car rental company Sixt. In addition, several Model Y LR cars were spotted in some Tesla showrooms around the country last week. They were identified by the VIN, which contained “XP7” at the beginning, indicating that they were made at Giga Berlin.
